COVID-19: 64th Independence Day parade, related activities suspended


President Akufo-Addo has directed that the 64th independendence celebration and its related activities slated for 6 March 2021 are suspended across the country.

The directive, contained in a letter from the Office of the Chief of Staff at the Presidency dated 11 February 2021 was necessitated by “the high prevalence rate of COVID-19 cases in the country”.

A memo issued by the Ghana Education Service (GES) and signed by its Deputy Director-General, Mr Anthony Boateng on Monday, 15 February 2021 noted: “Management of the Ghana Education Service wishes to inform all Regions that the 64th Independence Anniversary Parade on the 6th March 2021 has been suspended forthwith across the country,” GES noted in the memo.
